WHAT IS EVIL?
What is evil and why is evil allowed to exist by an all loving God?
The answer to the question lies within the question. It is precisely because He is an all loving God that evil is allowed to exist. To understand this we must know the original issues, here is why:
Our Father, the Lord our God, is Father to all of creation. We are His children as are the Angels, both Holy and Unholy. We are all His creations and as such are one family, under God, Our Father.
God allows this to be out of His love for all of His creation. We are settling out a case brought before God. We are in the final accumulation of facts before the judges.
If we believe in God and angels, then we are compelled to also believe what the scriptures say about demons and evil spirits too. We have already seen where the demons came from – they were angel sons of God who rebelled against the guidelines and heavenly responsibilities they were given, and created bodies for themselves, having relations with earthly women. They thus aligned themselves with the first rebellious angel, the one called “Devil” (Hebrew – “Slanderer”) and “Satan” (Hebrew – “Resister”); the one who challenged that God didn’t operate in the best interests for mankind and the heavenly realm. Later, a third of the angels were ousted from heaven by Faithful Angels and the Archangel Michael. They are permitted to operate on the earth today, for a short period of time.
(1 Pe. 3:19-20)
The devil was a beautiful angel with high responsibility who started wanting all of God’s glory for himself. He had started out perfect, as an angel created by God. (De. 32:4) But, as a free moral agent, he made his own choices along the way, and he chose to act against all that was good and holy. (Jas. 1:13) All through the scriptures he is seen as a person, and not as some evil abstract. As Christians, we are enlightened through the Bible to realize that Satan exists, but that he has no holds on us. Jesus expelled wicked spirits from people, and gave this same authority to his followers, the apostles and the disciples, “In the name of Jesus.” (Lu. 10:17) We work for the God of Love and Divine Power. Satan’s purposes and manners of operation are shown clearly to us from the scriptures, but the Lord enables us to fight him with His Name and the spiritual weapons he provides.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God…” (Eph.6:10)
What we see as evil or unholy is allowed for a limited period of time so that all that is brought before God can be answered. Father is so loving that He doesn't reject, He accepts. He has shown that throughout history that no matter what we have done, He accepts us back.
He is giving the same opportunity for the Unholy ones. No matter who they have killed, tortured, attempted to turn from God, He still grants them the opportunity to come back to Him.
This is why evil is allowed. Most mistakenly claim that there is no God (a manipulation by the Unholy ones), or that God Himself must be less than a loving God since He allows evil to occur. It is precisely the opposite. The evil in this world is allowed to happen to answer the questions brought before God.
What type of God would He be if He was just to wipe out any that opposed Him or questioned Him? Would that be a loving God? Certainly not.
It is in our limited awareness that we see with clouded eyes. We know in our hearts that this is not how things were supposed to be. We know that we are created out of love and that love should rule the world. Fear not, love is all there is and will soon rule the world.
Father has allowed for all this to take place so that what was written will come to pass. For nothing can keep us from Father's love. We are all given the opportunity to come before Him, come back to our Creator and share the love He has for us with all of creation.
We are given work to do here, works of love, calling all those who would listen with the ears of understanding. Helping to brighten all those that we may all come to Father!
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
